Board Communique May 2020
Dear Members
Principals Australia Research Foundation Ltd’s (PARF) Board met on 19 May 2020. At this meeting the Board addressed 3 key matters:
1. it reviewed the Research and Development Funding Guidelines and Application form
2. it received a report from the Finance and Investment Committee and reviewed progress with the investment portfolio manager, including proposed budget for 2020-2021
3. as part of future planning, it continued work on the development of the strategic plan for PARF, including a preview of the new website.
Research Funding for 2021
PARF will conduct a 2021 funding round. The Board has reviewed the funding guidelines and application form following a report from the Research Funding Panel. Applications open in July and close on the 30 September 2020. We are hoping to notify successful applicants by 30 November 2020. Further information will be available in July 2020.
John Laing
Recently the Board was informed of the passing of John Laing. John was well known across Australia for his contribution to professional learning for principals, especially through the establishment of APAPDC (which became PAI and now PARF). He will be remembered as a strong leader and supporter of principal associations. His work was celebrated by the establishment of a national award in his name to recognise fellow leaders and their contribution to principal professional learning. The Board expresses its condolences to the John Laing family and want to acknowledge John’s huge contribution to education in Australia.
