Board Communique August 2020
Dear Members
The Principals Australia Research Foundation Ltd (PARF) Board met via Zoom link on 25 August 2020.
At this meeting, the agenda included 3 key matters:
1. The upcoming AGM and the annual statements.
2. The Annual Directors Report.
3. The latest version of the strategic plan for PARF, including current operational objectives.
Annual General Meeting
The AGM will be held on Tuesday 13 October at 1.00pm (AEDST). At the AGM, the Annual Directors Report and Annual Financial Statements will be considered. The meeting will also see two director positions on the board up for election by the members.
The Board acknowledges the work, commitment, and contribution of retiring Director Ros Oates. Ros was an initial member of the new Board, elected in September 2018. She was instrumental in the development and restructure of Principals Australia Research Foundation. Ros has been a member of the Finance and Investment Committee, which provided valuable support and advice to the Board in establishing the investment policy and investment portfolio.
The Directors’ Report and Annual Financial Statements for PARF will be available on the website when the formal notice of meeting is sent prior to the AGM. PARF Website: www.parf.org.au
Strategic Plan
The Board adjusted the plan for the impact that COVID 19 is having on PARF. Firstly, on the reduction in returns from the investment portfolio and secondly, the impact on the research projects currently funded. The 2020 projects will now likely be completed in 2021. Following the Board discussion, further adjustments are being be made to the Strategic Plan prior to planned formal adoption at the next meeting.
Research Funding for 2021
The Board confirmed the reviewed Research and Development Funding Panel Terms of Reference for research year 2021. PARF is looking forward to receiving research project applications for 2021.
Applications are now open and close on the 30 September 2020. The plan is to notify successful applicants by 30 November 2020. Further information on how to apply for a grant is available from the website: www.parf.org.au
