Board Communique March 2022

Dear Members

The Principals Australia Research Foundation Ltd (PARF) Board met via Zoom on 2 March 2022. The key agenda items were:

-        Promoting and communicating research findings

-        Investment portfolio update

-        Board capabilities

-        Refinements to Funding Guidelines & Application Form.

Promoting and communicating research findings

The Board received a presentation of the findings of the South Australian Secondary Principals (SASPA) research project from Peter Mader, the project leader. The project report is available on the PARF website.

The Board explored various ways in which constructive research like SASPA’s could promulgated and resolved to develop a protocol for promoting and communicating PARF Funded research projects and their final report findings.

Investment portfolio update

Given the recent events in Europe, the board received an investment portfolio update from JBWere on the current situation with financial markets and considered the implications. The Board will review the investment portfolio policy regarding the proposed target return and portfolio’s defensive/growth asset spilt.

Board capabilities

The Board discussed conceptual needs of the Board and resolved to develop a capabilities framework that will list the knowledge, skills, experience and perspectives that would enhance the Board’s effectiveness in pursuing the Strategic Plan. This will assist in identifying future directors who could enhance or add to the capabilities of the Board.

Funding Guidelines & Application Form

The Board considered some refinements to the R&D Funding Guidelines and the Application Form arising from experience to date and resolved to amend the documents accordingly.
