Board Communique October 2022
Dear Members
Principals Australia Research Foundation Ltd.’s (PARF) Board met via Zoom on 11 October 2022, following PARF’s AGM. The agenda included 4 key matters:
1. Director administration
2. Investment portfolio performance
3. Endorsement of Operational Plan for 2022-23
4. Appointing the Research and Development Funding Panel.
Director administration
The AGM on Tuesday 11 October re-elected, two directors; Garry Brown OAM, nominated by APPA, and Dr Ian Anderson, nominated by APPA. It was also considered at the AGM a possible nomination for the vacant APPA position on the Board.
As required by rule 19.4 of the constitution, the Board elected office bearers. Dennis Yarrington was appointed to continue as Chair and Michael Hall to continue as Deputy Chair.
Investment Portfolio performance.
The Board noted and discussed advice received from the Portfolio Manager from the investment advisers JB Were regarding current market circumstances and the performance of the PARF Portfolio. The Board resolved to invite the Portfolio Manager to address the Board at the next meeting.
Operational Plan 2022-23
The Directors, having provided further feedback, endorsed the Operational Plan for Board Year 2023. (The plan will be posted on the website.)
Research Funding Panel for 2023 academic year funding round
The Board appointed Ian Anderson, Garry Brown OAM and Andrew Pierpoint as the Research and Development Funding Panel members, and appointed Dr Anderson as Chair. (The Panel is scheduled to meet in November to assess applications and recommend proposals for funding to the Board. The plan is then to notify successful applicants by 25 November 2022.)
