Board Communique September 2022

Dear Members

Principals Australia Research Foundation Ltd’s (PARF) Board met via Zoom on 24 August 2022. The meeting included 4 key matters:

1.     The upcoming AGM

2.     The 2022 Financial Statements and the Directors’ Report

3.     Progress with Research and Development Projects

4.     PARF’s Director capabilities matrix.

 

2022 AGM

Notice was approved for distribution shortly for the AGM on Tuesday 11 October at 1400 (AEDST). At the AGM, the Directors’ Report and Financial Statements will be considered. In accordance with the constitution, 1 third (2) of Directors will reach term. Both directors are eligible for re-election at the AGM. In addition to the above, a third director is expected to be elected to replace Fran Bonnano who resigned due to family reasons. The Board noted Fran’s contribution and valuable perspective as a current principal and experienced executive member of principal associations.

 

2022 Reports.

The Board resolved that the Directors’ Report and the Financial Statements for Principals Australia Research Foundation Ltd for year ended 30 June 2022 give a true and fair view of the affairs of PARF. The Directors’ Report and Financial Statements will be available on the website once the formal notice of meeting is distributed. PARF Website: www.parf.org.au

 

Research and Development Projects

The Board received the final report from the Australian Secondary Principals’ Association (ASPA) research project: Attracting and Retaining Australia’s Principals. A copy will be available at the upcoming Australian Primary Principals Association (APPA) National Conference in Sydney. The report is also available on PARF’s website: https://www.parf.org.au/s/ASPA-Attraction-Retention-Final-Report-July-2022-PARF.pdf Progress on 5 other research projects was reviewed.

The Board confirmed the allocation of up to $80,000 for funding research projects in academic year 2023. Application form and guidelines are available at www.parf.org.au. Applications close 30 September 2022.

PARF’s Director Capabilities

PARF’s updated director capabilities matrix was noted and discussed, with shortages identified. Further analysis and assessment of needs will continue.
